Why can I not log on to the databases?

Answer

Possible issues include:

  1. There's something wrong with your Connections login information.
    • To access the Library's databases and eResources, you must be a currently registered student, faculty, or staff member. Make sure you're using your Connections login information to access the Library databases, and that there aren't any typos in your credentials.

  2. There's an error from the cookies in your browser.
    • Try clearing your cache and then exiting and re-opening your browser. (You can learn how to clear your cache from here: https://library.webster.edu/tech-resources/help.) If you still encounter problems, try a different browser. (We often recommend Firefox.)

  3. There's something wrong with your connection.
    • Make sure your connection to the internet is stable.
    • Sometimes database connection errors can occur from protected networks (like work internet or VPNs). Try accessing the databases again in a different environment.
    • If you see the error message "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET", try clearing your cache or trying a different browser.

  4. There's something wrong with the database.
    • Unfortunately, sometimes connection errors happen, and it's up to the databases to fix them. Report a Technical Issue to us or try the database again later to see if the issue has resolved.
