How do I get a link to an article?
Answer
A "permalink" or a "share" link is a stable URL provided by a database that reliably links back to a particular article, document, or item.
You can use permalinks in:
- WorldClassroom
- Emails
- Citations
Database platforms have their own way to retrieve a permalink. Instructions for correctly obtaining a permalink in our three largest database platforms are provided below.
EBSCOhost databases
- Once you find an article you like, click on the article's title. This will direct you to the Detailed Records page.
- On the Detailed Records page, there are a series of icons located above the title. Click on the curved arrow designated "share".
- Choose "Create Link" and then copy the link to clipboard.
PROQUEST databases
- Once you find an article you like, click on the article's title. This will direct you to its record.
- Then click on the icon that reads "Copy URL." The link will automatically be added to your clipboard.
Gale databases
- Follow the steps for Proquest, the button reads "Get Link."
- Click "Copy."
You should not copy the web browser's URL. Using the web browser URL can cause errors because you are required to use Single Sign On to access library databases.
