Requesting Articles through ILLiad

What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is the software which you use to request articles, books, and book chapters which are unavailable from either our collections or the collections of other MOBIUS libraries.

When should I request an article?

You should request an article or other material when you need it for your studies, but don’t have immediate access to it. If you are an online student or attend classes at an extended or international campus, this can mean that a book chapter or an article is available in print at the library on the St. Louis Campus, but not available in full-text online. In this case, library staff will fill the request by scanning the material you requested and making it available to you through your ILLiad account for a limited time.

Through ILLiad, you can also request articles that are not available through Webster University Library. If you are searching for a specific article and find that you cannot access it through any Webster Library databases, all hope is not lost. Webster University Library has agreements with other university libraries that allow us to borrow materials and make them available to students for a limited time. This takes an average of 5-7 business days, so it is best to start your research early.

Note: While other institutions almost always lend us the requested materials, Webster University cannot guarantee that we can find an institution able to do so.

How do I request an article?

1. Make sure that the article isn’t available in Full-text online

For information on how to search Webster University Libraries for full text articles see How can I find a full text article?

2. Register in ILLiad if you are a first-time user, or sign in if you are a returning user.

When you click the blue Request it Here button, you will be prompted to log into ILLiad or create an account. First-time ILLiad users must fill out a short form.

After you log in, the request form will automatically populate with the information from Full Text Finder. If required fields are missing information, fill in those fields. If you have additional information about your article, fill in the form with as much information as possible.

Note: to begin a new request click on "New Requests" in the toolbar at the top of the page, or return to your favorite database to search and initiate additional requests via Full Text Finder.

How do I access my requested materials?

When your materials are ready, you will get an email that will link you back to ILLiad. You can also access it under Accounts on the library home page (see below). Once logged in, you will click Electronically Received Articles, and read your requested materials. Please download the PDF to your computer. You will also be able to view the date at which the material will no longer be available to you, and request a renewal.
