Request an article - St. Louis area patrons

First figure out if the article is available online or in print.

Search the Journals & Magazines List using the title of the journal to determine if we have the journal and where you may find it.

If the article is available online, log into the database using your last name and Webster University 7-digit ID, or library barcode for Eden patrons.

If the article is available in print only at either the Webster University Library or the Luhr Reference and Reading Library at Eden Theological Seminary, you must retrieve the copy of the periodical from the library where it is shelved.

  • Webster Current Periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order by title on the first floor of Webster University Library.
  • Webster U. Bound Periodical Lower Level are shelved in alphabetical order by title in the Lower Level of Webster University Library.
  • Eden Seminary Current Periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order by title in the Luhr Reading and Reference Library at Eden Theological Seminary.
  • You will have to photocopy or scan the article as we do not check out periodicals.

What do I do if the article is unavailable either online or in print?

When you find a citation in one of our databases and full text is not available, click on the Request via Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)link. 

Once you click on the link you'll immediately see that all of the citation information has been filled in for you and you simply have to submit the request.

The page shows the article is available full text, but it isn't.  What do I do?

If the database has incorrect information from the publisher or vendor and does not link you to the article, and is not available in print, go to Interlibrary Loan/ILLiad and submit an article request.  Be sure to add a note that the "Full Text Finder" holdings are incorrect.  If this is your first time using the system you will be prompted to create an account.

Now that I’ve requested an article when and how will it arrive?

  • We will always request an article on your behalf but do not guarantee that we'll find another library which is willing to supply us with a copy.
  • If we find a lending library, it takes an average of 2-3 business days (excluding weekends and U.S. holidays) for the copy of the article to arrive. Most lending libraries send us a digital copy of the article which is delivered to your Interlibrary Loan/ILLiad.
  • We will contact you at the e-mail address you entered when you created  your Interlibrary Loan/ILLiad when the article is either available for you to view or if we cannot find a lender. You may also log into your Interlibrary Loan/ILLiad account to view the status of your request(s) at any time.
