How can I tell if an article is peer reviewed?
Answer
Peer-reviewed articles are reviewed by experts before publication to make sure the research meets academic standards. They’re usually research studies or literature reviews.
To check if an article is peer reviewed:
- Look up the journal, not just the article. Visit the journal’s website and find the For Authors or Submission Guidelines section. It should mention if the journal uses a peer-review process.
- In a library database (like EBSCO), click the article title to see more details. Then click the journal name to open its description—look for a note that says if it’s peer reviewed.
