Does the library have my textbook?

Answer

The Webster University Library rarely purchases textbooks. To see if we happen to have the textbook you need, please follow the steps below.

St. Louis area students

U.S. extended-campus and online students

  • First search the Webster library catalog. If you find the book, you may need to click the title to bring up the full record. Ebooks will have a link to the online book. Physical books on our shelves will have a location (for example, lower level, third floor, etc.)
    • If the word AVAILABLE appears in the status field, you may request a physical book by pressing the REQUEST icon at the top of the page. Fill out the request form that appears and choose Webster Univ, US sites for the Choose Pick up Location. The book will be shipped to you via FedEx (we pay shipping and return charges).
  • If the book is not available in the Webster catalog, search the MOBIUS catalog to see if another Missouri library owns the printed book. View these instructions on how to obtain MOBIUS books
  • If the book is not available through a library, go to MBSDirect (the bookstore for extended campus/online students)

Why don’t we purchase textbooks?

The library’s mission is to provide materials that go beyond the traditional textbook, such as in-depth books on a topic, research journals, videos, primary sources, etc. Our collection development policy states we do not purchase textbooks.
