Where are the scanners located in the Library? How do I scan?
Answer
Document and image scanners are available for the use of students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Webster University and Eden Seminary in the 24/7 lab and in the eCommons. You can scan from the printers or by using one of the Canon scanners.
Scanners are not available to members of the general public.
If you need help, please refer to the scanner instruction documents located below.
Scanning documents with the printers
- Load your document into the document feeder, or place your items on the scanner bed. If it is multiple pages it's easier to put them in the document feeder
- Log in to the printer with your ID or by typing in your login information.
- Choose "Scan" from the options presented.
- If your document is single-sided, you can simply press "start". If it is double sided, make sure to look at the settings on the right and select "2 sided", and verify that the original loading direction is correct.
- If you're using the scanning bed and need to scan multiple items to the same document, select "Additional Pages". Select "Start" for each new page, then hit "Finish" and "Start" when you have finished scanning.
- Your document will be scanned and sent to your University email in PDF format.
Using the Canon scanners
-
Place your item face down on the scanner bed, with the top of the document aligned with the arrow. Anything within a half inch of the outside edge of the scanner bed will not scan so place your documents carefully.

-
Press the PDF Scan Start button on the scanner (pictured, furthest on the left).
-
If you need to save your item as an image, open the Scan IJ Utility (search “scan” in the Windows search bar) and choose your document type to be “Photo” then scan your item. It will save as a JPEG.

-
If you need to scan multiple pages, place the next page down and hit the PDF Scan Start button again. When you have scanned all of your pages, press the Scan Finish button (pictured, second from the left). Your document will be saved to the computer by default.
The scanner in the Listening/Viewing area has an automatic document feeder.
